The “World Wide Web” article by Burners- Lee was interesting because it was a window in the old thinking about the internet. The computer jargon was difficult to comprehend, but some of the ideas discussed were revolutionary in the involvement and growth of “W3” as they nicknamed the web. In the section about what they expected the web to feature in the future, most of this, to my somewhat inadequately equipped knowledge of computer technology, is realized today, and we have even gone father than Burners-Lee predicted. The first example listed talks about finding documents “independent of their location” (page 81). Engines like Google scholar and academic websites for Universities allow this to happen.  The design concept of the internet has spawned tons of jobs by opening the new career field of web design, HTML, and other display methods. The web is available to everyone, even in the lowest socio-economic places, with access available at a local public library. Besides all of these technological feats, the Web is really the component in globalization. Without the ability to connect with people internationally through the use of a computer, our world may not be so far along in globalization. Though the catch phrase “W3” didn’t catch on, the technology that the web introduced changed and impacts the way we function in our life.
